It's time for the hustle and bustle of back to school, but healthy eating should not be ignored. For those of you who were asking, this is the recipe I had the honor of presenting last week on SA Live! These whole wheat pitas are a cinch to throw together for your kiddos. Make it fun with our Greek yogurt ranch dip and pack with other goodies such as raisins, apple sauce, clementines, or cherry tomatoes!
1 whole wheat pita, cut into quarters
1/2 cup sliced cucumber
1/2 cup matchstick carrots
2-3 oz turkey breast
3/4 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp ranch seasoning (we used Simply Organic)
Arrange pitas with 1 slice turkey breast, 1 tbsp matchstick carrots, and 3-4 cucumber slices. To prepare ranch dip, mix together yogurt and seasoning. To pack lunch, arrange 2 pita quarters and 1/4 cup ranch dip in an airtight container. This recipe can easily be enjoyed as an adult too!
Tip: Healthy eating starts at home and at an early age. Have your child help you in the kitchen and make healthy eating a fun activity!
