We survived Thanksgiving! We hope everyone had an amazing time with family and friends! Now following is the hustle and bustle of the holidays, where it's sometimes too easy to place your health on the back burner. Let's stay mindful and coast into 2017 feeling our best! Here are some tips to take into consideration...
1) Stay hydrated! With the increased errands of shopping, travel, and higher alcohol intake for some, remember to drink plenty of water. Dehydration triggers sugar cravings and fatigue. To avoid overdosing on reindeer cookies and peppermint bark, be proactive and carry water with you at all times!
2) Hunger maintenance. Holiday parties are the BEST, but worst especially when it comes to managing your weight. Don't go to a social gathering too hungry. Snacking prior will allow you to mindfully approach the party spread. Some suggestions are hummus and veggies (click image for recipe below!), boiled egg and small apple, or a seasonal Pumpkin Spice LARA Bar. Still enjoy your favorites without overindulging!
3) Prioritize yourself. Overcommitting during this season is common when it comes to so many fun festive obligations. Prevent burnout and excess stress by prioritizing those obligations. Treat yourself to an optimal routine when it comes to managing stress and adequate sleep. High stress levels and lack of sleep can promote cortisol production – a hormone known to promote belly fat.
